Wow! That's the only suitable way to start this review. We loved this hotel. Traditional Chinese hutong building with lovely small courtyards with red lanters. Rooms are decorated with furniture from carved wood and very nice Chinese decorative objects, the floors are stone tiles. But don't worry - the rooms are very warm and cosy even in the middle of the winter! You get the traditional feeling but don't compromise the comfort. Even the beds are very nice (most hotels in China have rock hard beds but not here). Staff is super friendly and gives better advice and more helpful information than in any hostel (that's where 'real travellers' go - it's meant as a huge compliment) and they speak better English than in a Shanghai 5-star hotel.Price - value - experience is a great offer in this place. Breakfast buffet took us by surprise, a lot of variety and catering for Chinese and Western taste buds much more than we expected from such a small scale hotel. Location is convenient, not far from a metro station with two lines intersection, so it is easy to get to the main sights. We also tried the bar in the evening, had delicious fruit tea and a good Chinese meal while enjoying the guzheng (Chinese harp) being played live. We also booked an evening kung fu show from the hotel, better deal than what is available online. Only suplerlatives! We will go back next time in Beijing.

It's a great check-in experience. I'll come back next time I come to Beijing.

OK, but it's not as good as the quadrangle I imagined

It's more distinctive. It's better if the yard is bigger.

It's worth living. It mainly serves foreigners. The hotel layout is too prominent with Chinese elements. It is red and green, too much. Xbox on the second floor of the bar didn't start up at first. Find the service staff downstairs and say they'll come later. Then we didn't come to see it until we left. Foreigners are God here, even if the Chinese live in the largest room
